Victoria's High Country is a mountain biker's paradise, featuring 10 mountain bike parks at 8 great destinations. Backcountry riding, plenty of town facilities and a community of locals and trail builders who keep dishing up new trails on a regular basis.

The proximity of the trail destinations, combined with the variety of terrain, makes the High Country a truly special destination for mountain biking. From beginner mountain biker to elite athlete, cross country through to downhill and everything in between: everyone can find what they are looking for.

And the best bit? Combining the destinations into a multi-day trip gives you diversity that you simply won't find anywhere else.

 

1. INDIGO EPIC TRAIL

It's EPIC and it links Beechworth with Yackandandah. The Indigo Epic Trail is a 56km All Mountain single track mountain biking trail connecting the historic towns of Beechworth and Yackandandah.

Built to an intermediate blue rating, this incredible mountain bike trail offers something for everyone, packed full of features and running through some of the most spectacular scenery in Victoria’s High Country. Better yet, it’s open year-round meaning you can plan your trip to Beechworth or Yackandandah whenever you like.

2. BRIGHT

Bright is a town that's mad about cycling with great support services, MTB and eMTB hire and a trail network that offers a unique mix of trails for all skill levels. The original Bright trails - mostly handbuilt by locals - still hold their own alongside the more recent pro-built trails Hero and Shred Kelly's Last Stand...

3. MT BULLER

Mt Buller Bike Park is a world-class destination offering the ideal biking escape. Ride the extensive cross-country trail network, hit the downhill trails, tackle the pump track, skills parks & more, or get stuck into the Epic Trail - all just three hours from Melbourne...

4. FALLS CREEK

Falls Creek Mountain Bike Park has over 40km of singletrack winding through snowgums in brilliant alpine terrain. Ride the up tracks or shuttle to the top, and don't miss the technical, fast, flowy Summit to Howmans descent...

5. MT BEAUTY

Mount Beauty's Big Hill Mountain Bike Park has kilometre after kilometre of top quality cross-country and downhill trails suitable for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. And the trailhead's just a short ride from town, too...

  6. BEECHWORTH

The mountain biking scene in Beechworth rocks (see what we did there), with the small but seriously fun and funky mountain bike park just on the outskirts of town, and Flametrees, a XC loop with gullies and cuttings weaving through native bush...

Yackandandah boasts 5 old school XC loops, techy terrain and a great little kids loop. The trails are thoughfully cut into the forest landscape, following contour lines, gullies and even an historic water race. And the town is a favourite place to chill after the ride...

Dinner Plain is an all-seasons alpine village, nestled in the Alpine National Park, which creates a magnificent setting for these flowy trails that leave from the village. Fun fact: the trails are named after local trail dogs...

9. LAKE MOUNTAIN

Home to over 40km of singletrack.  Most trails start and finish from the resort and in addition to the marked trails there are over 20km of cross country ski trails ideal for beginners and families. The new Cascades trail starts from Lake Mountain and finishes 29km later in Marysville, an awesome adventure!

10. BUXTON

Buxton Mountain Bike Park is situated within the Black Range State forest, approximately 100 km north east of Melbourne. There is around 23 km of purpose built mountain bike single track in the park that can be ridden in a number of different length loops.
