BEECHWORTH MTB PARK

An excellent mix of short pinch climbs, tight switchbacks, and technically challenging sections with the downhill crew also getting their fix.

THE PARK

The Beechworth MTB Park has cemented its position as one of the High Country's favourite mountain biking destinations. Escape to a techy singletrack paradise in a natural bushland setting that offers granite features galore, hand-shaped gaps and tabletops, plenty of climbing and some great descents, plus a trail surface that impossibly gets even better with rain!

MTB HIGHLIGHTS

Snakes and Ladders Beechworth | Ride High Country
SNAKES & LADDERS

Follow Mojo up to the top of the park and turn off onto the blue-rated "Snakes" - one of Beechworth's takes on fast and fun for intermediate riders and above. Drop offs, rock gardens, the boulder, and a fast berm-filled finish make for good times over and over again.

FULL XC LOOP

The 10km Full XC Loop (previously Yellow Arrow) combines a number of individual trails into one of the best cross country loops in the region. Follow the dark blue arrows from the car park and get ready for some granite. Locals' tip: One lap is never enough, but you'll need a good lie down after two.

GRAVITY & DH

What Beechworth lacks in big elevation and long DH runs it makes up for with technical difficulty and risk/reward. Dr Hong's Prune Candy and Short Course Downhill are tight, twisty and fast gravity runs where line choice is critical if you're to avoid a granite sandwich, while Don't Be A Hero is a shuttle-worthy jumps-fest that gets better every time you ride it.

BEGINNERS AND KIDS

Green Loop and Goanna are great options to give kids and beginner adults a taste of what riding MTB in Beechworth is all about. Mostly flat with some swoopy sections and short climbs, care should be taken over the tree roots and granite rocks. Ready for the next step? Try Laundry Track, the bottom half of Snakes and Ladders or Flame Trees.

FLAME TREES

Running either side of the Murray To The Mountains Rail Trail just a few kms out of town, Flame Trees is a cross country loop worth riding. Starting where the Rail Trail crosses Diffey Road with a warm-up grassy section, the well-signposted trail quickly makes its way into the trees and winds left and right, down and up before returning back on the other side of the trail. It's great for kids with intermediate ability ... provided they can climb their way back up to the trailhead!

BIKES & BEERS & BIKES

Quench your thirst after a ride at the Bridge Road Brewery right in the middle of town. It is also a great place to refuel with an array of woodfired pizzas and other tasty treats. The owner is a gun mountain biker, so you be sure to keep a look out for him passing you on the trails.
