Claire Turnbull

Hi my name is Claire Turnbull I am 25 years old. I live in North East Victoria in a small country town called Wangaratta. I work in a community pharmacy in Benalla where I am a dispense tech. I have been cycling for about 3 years now but have always loved riding bikes. I enjoy getting out on the bike as much as possible but mostly on the weekends. My boyfriend is a keen cyclist and he was the reason I got into cycling… he is my motivation to cycle.

My family and friends also motivate me to keep fit and healthy and I enjoy the physical fitness you gain from cycling. I don’t mind going out for a ride by myself but also enjoy a social ride with a small group of friends.

My boyfriend introduced me to the 7 peaks.  I told him I only wanted to do Mt Buller and Mt Buffalo but ended up doing all 7!  He was by my side every step of the way and encouraged me to finish all 7.

The First peak I climbed was Mount Buller…we rode with a few guys, which was good motivation and then went out for lunch together afterwards.  I think Mt Hotham and Baw Baw were the most challenging for me both mentally and physically. I don’t think I could have completed them without my boyfriend’s company and support.

I love the thrill and achievement you get when you reach the top, you feel physically exhausted but relieved and its so satisfying, the pain in your legs and bum just goes away! The best part is enjoying the amazing views while riding.
