I’m now in my late 30’s and didn’t get on a bike until about 4 years ago. I stated with a mountain bike, riding short distances on bike tracks. It wasn’t until about 2.5 years ago that I thought I’d give road riding a go. I was always scared of riding on the road, so I joined a social riding group and slowly built up my ride distance.

I aim to get out on my bike once or twice during the week and then go for longer adventures on the weekend. I enjoy the social side of riding and exploring new roads and trails. It is great to be able to hop on the bike with friends and after a great ride have a chat over a coffee/lunch.

I was dragged along by some friends who were aiming to do all 7 peaks about 2 years ago. Fast forward 12 months and I thought I’d give a few of the other 7 peaks a go. While I didn’t attempt all 7, I managed to climb three – Lake Mountain, Mt Buffalo (again) and Falls Creek. Mt Buffalo this time felt significantly easier.

I did Lake Mountain at the Domestique event, which was great as I got to ride with so many other like-minded people. Mt Buffalo and Falls Creek were done with a group of friends over a weekend. I absolutely loved Falls Creek – it was a beautiful scenic ride.

I’ve also been to Mt Buller to mountain bike – enjoying the scenic Delatite River ride. Nothing can compare to spending time at the vast array of wineries in the NE Victorian Region after slogging it out on the bike up the mountains. It’s a great way to unwind.
