Training

There aren’t any shortcuts when it comes to improving your climbing. You simply need to get out there and get used to it! Training up for an attempt for one of the 7 Peaks? Find some shorter climbs close to home and get comfortable there. Concentrate on finding a comfortable rhythm and getting used to the gearing that best suits you. Once you’re comfortable on the shorter climbs, take what you’ve learned there and take on something a little bigger! If you’re more experience in the hills and want to set a better time on your favourite berg, there are many training drills you can do to improve your climbing ability. Focus on improving your threshold power — many of the 7 Peaks will take around an hour or more, and it’s your threshold power that will determine how hard you’re able to go.
