Descents, Berms & Ferns…it’s going to be Epic!

You can feel the excitement with only three weeks to go until the Indigo Epic mountain bike trail officially opens to ride from 12pm on Wednesday 15 March 2023.

Ride High Country Ambassador Paul van der Ploeg can’t wait to take on “the long flowing downhill from Beechworth to Yack Tracks with loads of progressive features that make you want to ride the trail again and again.”

Paul also loves the Ferny Gully section of the trail “that is completely unexpected for the High Country. Plus the Nine Mile Creek climb and bridge feels like you’re in another world providing a real sense of wilderness. Essentially around every corner there’s something to look forward to. Oh and don’t forget the cafes, pubs and breweries to refuel with at the end of the trail!”

There’s so much to look forward to with a big variety of riding along the trail including…

Homeward Bound

Get ready for 6km of thrills. The Beechworth to Yackandandah Homeward Bound trail section is all about the descent. Take this trail section at your own pace with doubles, gaps, hip jumps and step-ups served up for advanced riders alongside B-line features making it perfect to ride with a range of rider abilities. Safety is always essential on the trail especially when riding in remote areas. Make sure to scope all features and ride within your limits.

Ferny Gully & Gold Rush

Love a challenge? Don’t miss the undulating Ferny Gully and Gold Rush trail sections. These trail sections are some of the most spectacular with sculpted berms, thick ferns and ridgeline views. Stop and catch your breath at the Gold Rush bridge crossing over the rushing waters of Nine Mile Creek before taking on the switchback heavy Wallaby Climb trail section.

Endless Exploration

Just can’t get enough of riding? Technical single track paradise Beechworth MTB Park and Yackandandah MTB Park as well as endless gravel routes offer even more seriously fun loops. Plus, enjoy a wide range of cycle friendly accommodation and a stack of nature experiences. With so much to see and do, the Indigo Epic trail and surrounding area is perfect for family or group cycling getaways.

We can’t wait to see you on the mountain bike trail from 12pm on Wednesday 15 March 2023. Watch this space and follow us on Instagram and Facebook for all the insider info.
