Ascent and Descent

The experience of cycling in the mountains can be broken into two distinct elements: climbing and descending.

On the way up it’s all about finding a comfortable gear, settling into a rhythm and trying to enjoy the challenge of tackling the climb one pedal stroke at a time. Take the time to look around and appreciate your surrounds. Look back down the mountain to see how far you’ve climbed. When it comes time to descend, safety should be your number one priority. Sure, we all love riding fast and the descent is the reward for the hard effort of getting to the top, but it’s important to ride within your limits. Don’t get sucked into following faster riders – ride at a pace that you can safely maintain.
