MTB Champs Only a Week Away!!!

The Mountain Bike Australia National Championships are just around the corner! Ride High Country, Alpine Shire and the town of Bright are stoked to have Australia’s best mountain bikers #RollOnBack to Australia’s premier cycling destination.

The 2020 Mountain Bike National Championships will take place at Mystic MTB Park in Bright from 11-15 March. The Mystic Park MTB venue has provided numerous memorable moments in Australian mountain biking history and will once again be the backdrop for more than 700 riders chasing green and gold glory. Mountain Bike Australia CEO Shane Coppin said “On the racing side we know the courses will be at a high standard to really challenge the riders in pursuit of national glory.” Riders of international pedigree like Rebecca McConnell, Dan McConnell and Cam Ivory in the cross country (XC); 2019 World Cup Champion Tracey Hannah in the downhill (DH); and 2015 Trials World Janine Jungfels will battle it out on home soil.

Having the event in the High Country is important for the Region, with the event showcasing the best trails the country has on offer. By attending: as a competitor; support crew or cycling fan; you’ll not only get the chance to mix it with some of the world’s best athletes but you’ll also assist local High Country communities get back on their feet. Alpine Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Charlie Bird said “After a disastrous start to the year, our communities are keen to see riders return to embrace this premier cycling destination. Our businesses are open and all set to welcome more visitors, with great food and drink, stunning autumn weather and unique retail experiences ready and waiting!”

In an exciting development his year, the elite trials finals will be held under lights at Bright Brewery on Friday 13th of March, in the heart of town. Downhill finals have been moved to Saturday with the Pump Track finals in the evening while the cross-country discipline will round out the event on Sunday 14th March. Come by the event village in Pioneer Park or make your way onto the trails for some of the best views of professional sportspeople in action…in any sport!
