  • Difficulty: Black
  • Distance: 42.8 km
Ride Description

Victoria’s 7 Peaks Ride is an at-your-own pace cycling challenge which run from October 2017 to April 2018, taking you up winding mountain roads, around steep turns and past spectacular views right to the top of seven Victorian Alpine Resorts.

Distance 42.8km • Rise 943m • Grade Average 2% • Grade Max 11%

Climb out of Omeo on the Great Alpine Road, taking note to grab a breather at the Kosciuszko Lookout 8 kilometres along the way. Shortly after the Lookout is something of a descent, followed by some undulating road to Cobungra Station, before you hit some serious climbing. Ride through the changing landscape of alpine ash, snowgum forest and heathland. Only 12 kilometres from Hotham, picturesque Dinner Plain village is a top spot to stay overnight.

Pack enough hydration and nutrition for this one - it's the longest of the Peaks climbs. There are plenty of flat and downhill sections as well as some sustained climbing. The final 15kms test your determination to see it through, but rumour has it there's one of the 'best of the mountain' lunches available when you get there. There are a couple of fast descents, including the one to Jim and Jack Creek.
