CYCLING HIGHLIGHTS
INDIGO EPIC TRAIL
It's EPIC and it links Beechworth with Yackandandah. The Indigo Epic Trail is a brand new 56km All Mountain single track mountain biking trail connecting the historic towns of Beechworth and Yackandandah.
Built to an intermediate blue rating, this incredible mountain bike trail offers something for everyone, packed full of features and running through some of the most spectacular scenery in Victoria’s High Country. Better yet, it’s open year-round meaning you can plan your trip to Beechworth or Yackandandah whenever you like.
MURRAY TO MOUNTAINS RAIL TRAIL
For those who like to feel the wind in their hair the 15km descent from Beechworth to Everton Station on the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail is a very popular ride, especially with the locals. Keep riding all the way to Myrtleford and Bright if you're here for the weekend. And with sections of the new Beechworth to Yackandandah Rail Trail extension already partly open for riding there are even more options for a great day out.
BEECHWORTH MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK
The Beechworth MTB Park has cemented its position as one of the High Country's favourite mountain biking destinations. Escape to a techy singletrack paradise in a natural bushland setting that offers granite features galore, hand-shaped gaps and tabletops, plenty of climbing and some great descents, plus a trail surface that impossibly gets even better with rain!
ROAD LOOPS
Beechworth, by virtue of its hilltop location, delivers challenging rides for the roadies. Cycle a few kilometres in any direction out of Beechworth and you will find some long hills down, which of course need to be ridden back up. There are some great rides under 30km and longer loops that cover 70km+. A local favourite is the Stanley Twin Peaks ride, or try The Block or the Yack Loop for something a little longer.
BEECHWORTH GRAVEL
Smooth gravel roads, undulating countryside and climbs to challenge every level of rider ... Beechworth and the surrounding villages offer some of the most rewarding gravel roads and loops that you'll find in the High Country. Pack some supplies and head out for an all-day epic, or simply wind your way through the countryside or Mt Pilot National Park and enjoy the freedom of riding the backroads and tracks.
