Celebrating 10 Years of Rule 47

Sip, sip, hooray – the annual High Country Brewery Trail collaboration brew turns 10 this year.

The High Country Brewery Trail is the ultimate brew road trip, linking seven unique breweries and the spectacular trails and routes between them. A road trip best taken over a few days, the High Country Brewery Trail is a great way to explore the region’s endless cycling routes and craft beers made from locally grown hops.

Each year, the brewers of the High Country Brewery Trail gather at a different member brewery to pool their knowledge and create the collaborative Rule 47 signature beer. Named after Rule 47 “Drink tripels, don’t ride triples” of the Velominati Rules of Cycling from the ‘Keepers of the Cog’, this annual brew is a true expression of the seven talented brewers knowledge and passion for cycling in Victoria’s High Country.

This year’s 10 year celebration brew is a thirst quenching Red IPA, known for its complexity and delicate balance of malt and hops. Perfect for post-ride chats, this brew is a deep red colour with notes of rockmelon, ripe pineapple and candied fruit underneath a complex malt aroma.

Rule 47 Definition – Drink tripels, don’t ride triples. Cycling and beer are so intertwined we may never understand the full relationship. Beer is a recovery drink, an elixir for post-ride trash talking and a just plain excellent thing to pour down the neck. We train to drink so don’t fool around. Drink quality beer from real breweries. If it is brewed from rice instead of malted barley or requires a lime, you are off the path. Know your bittering units like you know your gear length. Life is short, don’t waste it on bad beer.
